I am so proud of Oreo’s babies. We’ve had to help her out a bit in the mothering department, since the two stronger doelings will often shove the little buck right out of the way at mealtime. It’s easy to just run chaperone several times a day and hold back little Miss
Piggy Buffy so her brother can get his share. But all three babies are doing well. Oreo’s udder is huge, and so far we have not had to supplement the little buckling with extra milk. We are proud of Oreo for being able to feed three growing babies as a first freshener!
I will have to brush up on my goat judging terminology, but little Miss Buffy is built like a Dually pickup truck – lots of body capacity! Cookie Monster is smaller, but who knows…she has every chance to catch up, as they are only 14 days old. These guys have got plenty of time to grow.
Their playful antics are quite amusing. They look like popcorn as they run and leap (which I have yet to get a picture of due to a slow shutter button on my Bandit Camera, darn it). And their tiny bubbly voices! Gah! The cuteness!!
They are already becoming very tame. There are few things funnier than the feeling of baby goat whiskers as they nibble on your face or your toes.
It will be hard to let the little buckling go to a new home, since he is the sweetest of all. But I know that somewhere out there are his people just waiting for a precious little Frosted Mini Oreo! It will be better all around since we already have two bucks (Peppernut and Brownie, the triplets’ father), and don’t have space to keep pet wethers.
But really, who could say no to this little permanent-milk-mustache of a face?
